The gang then tried oysters soaked in wood alcohol, and then decided to try freezing him, which didn't work either. Ultimately, they gassed him with a hose connected to a gas jet. Four of the five would die on the electric chair at Sing Sing and the fifth went to prison.

Formerly with a large international accounting firm in their San Francisco office, he has operated his own tax and accounting practice for 20 years. Michael is active in the community and has served on the board of several organizations. He and his wife Kathleen have been married for 30 years and together with their two sons Bryan and Connor, reside in the City of Alameda and the Sierra Foothills near Yosemite.

Michael holds a B.A. in Psychology and Business from California State University, Hayward and a Master of Divinity from Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, California.
